The work focuses on the design of custom equipment, gloveboxes, hot cells, custom-designed research equipment, and remotely-operated mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials. Mechanical Equipment Designer I will work directly with small teams to produce 3D models, drawings and fabrication packages of custom equipment with direction from the project engineer. Typical equipment includes containment systems (gloveboxes, hot cells, cleanrooms), material handling equipment, small scale process piping & equipment, furnace systems, metal working systems (mills, lathes, rolling machines) and pressure vessels.Job Description:Detailed design activities include preparation of component, subassembly and main assembly Creo (Pro/E) models; creating detailed fabrication drawing packages; creating detailed Bills of Materials and completing equipment datasheets. Establishes model structure and drawing tree architecture for distinct deliverables and is responsible for establishing and maintaining file naming conventions and Windchill folders. Design activities are conducted following regimented quality assurance / quality control procedures.Required Experience: Must demonstrate basic knowledge of or aptitude for CREO (Pro/E) and Windchill. Familiarity with other 3D systems (CATIA, SolidWorks), 2D software (AutoCAD preferred), and Autodesk Revit a plus. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of software. Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, equipment datasheets and design record documents.Education: Degree Requirements: Associates Degree or Technical College Certification required if no previous experience OR A minimum of one (1) year of experience in related field required.Additional Skillsets: Experience in the DOE and DOD market segments a plus. Experience in the Aerospace Ground Support Equipment market segments a plus.
