McComb's Barbershop in Nob Hill
We're a newer three-chair barbershop looking for another barber. MUST be licensed in the state of NM.
We are a CLEAN shop that watches B-movies and horror movies (or really any weirdo movie we pick) all day long. The record player loves rock and roll or avant-garde music. We are personable, honest, and try to form bonds with our clients—they are not dollar bill signs, jabronis, or whatever discouraging thing one could say. We like them and want to give them the best cut possible.
You should be very comfortable with shears, modern cuts, classic cuts, and long hair. It's our job to cut hair so that should be a given. (Side note: If you are new that's okay, we can make you better.) Walk-ins are around, but it's mostly appointment-based. It may be slow at first, but if you do a good job, they will come back, and you will be fully booked. Commission-based 70/30.
I cannot stress this enough—if you schedule an interview and are one minute late, go home because it will not work out. Show up when you are supposed to show up. Your clients will do the same.
At the end of the day, I would rather hire someone who is genuine, likable, and fits our vibe while only being okay at cutting, as opposed to an unbearable human who does great fades or whatever.
To recap: Punctuality, personality, bad movie-ity, rock and roll-ity, and licensed-ity is what we want. Obviously, made-up words are not important.
