Submaterial, a design and fabrication studio renowned for its high-quality interior wall panels and wallcovering products, is seeking a Woodshop Team Lead. This position is critical to maintaining the company’s precision, timeliness, and integrity. The Woodshop Team Lead will oversee woodshop operations, ensuring the accurate and timely fabrication of commercial and residential product elements, shipping crates, and custom projects. Responsibilities include direct supervision of the production team, adhering to safety protocols, maintaining quality standards, and serving as the final quality control for all packed materials. The role requires effective team planning, problem anticipation, and collaboration with other departments to meet production goals.
Leadership responsibilities involve supervising and training team members, managing employee relations and performance reviews, and ensuring compliance with safety and employment policies. The Woodshop Team Lead will also engage in cross-training, document fabrication standards, and coordinate maintenance and safety of all equipment. Effective communication with vendors and internal departments is essential, as is fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment. The position demands at least 60% of time spent on hands-on fabrication, requiring strong woodworking experience (3 - 5 years’ experience is preferred), leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in relevant software. The job is full-time, based in Albuquerque, NM, with a pay range of $25.00 - $30.00 per hour.
