Solar Installer/Field Technician

SunState Solar Inc., is looking for hardworking and competent solar installers/field technicians to assist in the crucial process of installing residential and commercial pv solar systems within the Albuquerque and surrounding areas. The primary responsibility of an installer/field tech is to physically install pv solar system components including mounting solar panels on rooftops or ground mounts, installing inverters, connecting and wiring all electrical components, and securing all equipment according to permitted plan sets and specifications. Installations are physically demanding and require work outdoors often in extreme temperatures. Installers are also responsible for a clean, organized and well-kept vehicle and jobsite to ensure efficiency and compliance of all installations. Must be able to comply with any and all safety protocols, use of appropriate PPE, and be available to provide maintenance and/or servicing of solar systems and components. Maintaining detailed records of install activities including reports and fulfilling checklists in the CRM. Must be able to provide customers with guidance on system operation, manage expectations, answer questions and address any concerns to ensure complete customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Valid Driver’s License for use of company vehicles

High school diploma or equivalent – post secondary education in electrical engineering, renewable energy or related field is a plus

Basic understanding of electrical systems AC/DC and components including but not limited to wiring, inverters, electrical codes and/or regulations

Familiarity with roofing materials, mounting hardware, racking equipment, pv solar panels, install techniques, and safety protocols

Position requires working at heights, lifting heaving equipment (50-100 lbs), navigating challenging terrain, physical fitness and agility are essential for climbing up/down ladders with materials, squatting, crawling and standing for periods of time

Problem-solving, teamwork and communications skills are required as some installs may require troubleshooting and solving problems that may arise including but not limited to equipment malfunctions, layouts or structural issues. Being able to work in teams as well as effectively communicate with fellow team members, customers and supervisors.
