OverviewThe Transportation Analyst is responsible for the planning, coordinating, monitoring and analyzing all transportation costs including outbound freight expense, costs per pound by carrier, monthly accruals, the underlying performance driving metrics and all other transportation related expenses. This role will work with line haul carriers and pool points to ensure on time delivery to sort centers and store deliveries.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and oversee daily, weekly, monthly analytics and performance measurements for the Transportation/Supply Chain management team

Oversee on time delivery of shipments to stores. Work with both line haul carriers and pool distribution points to ensure proper communication with stores on any delays and work to resolve any delivery issues.

Maintain frequency and delivery day schedules for all network stores.

Develop reports as needed to track expenses and performance metrics to plan.

Create new reports as needed to support management decision making.

Update current procedures to fit current business requirements, including but not limited to, automating and documenting procedures and cross-training for redundancy.

Distribute weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports as related to the transportation delivery network Identify the root cause of trends in the key metrics

Perform analysis as needed to support Transportation/Supply Chain Management team

Assist in network modeling to find best service and lowest cost.

Complete analysis to investigate potential opportunity areas.

Monitor and escalate changes in key metrics; research and identify root cause.

Support forecasting of expenses through month / quarter / year end given best available information.

Use data to tailor and suggest tactics that drive improvement to cost and service.

Act as Transportation liaison with the Organization

Collaborate with Finance for monthly close and financial reporting issues.

Answer queries from Finance on variances of actual results to plan.

Collaborate with the other Supply Chain Analysts on projects, initiatives, and data inquiries.

Communicate with Stores on delivery issues and service failures.

Support development of annual operating budgets for Transportation spend

Provide ad hoc analysis support as necessary to complete operating budget.

Provide input on expense timing and amount based on current year performance.

Other Functions:

QualificationsEducation/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Management orrelated discipline or, equivalent combination of intellectual instruction and work experience working with in Supply Chain with emphasis on store delivery network.

Required Knowledge:

Intermediate to advance level of Excel knowledge toinclude creation of pivot tables, vlookups/hlookups, sumifs,indexes, concatenating, conditional formatting.

Familiarity with macros (VBA) a plus.

Intermediate to advance level of Access knowledge to include importing/linking source tables, joins, group by, data normalization, querying, macros, familiarity with form and report creation.

Ability to adapt to new systems.

Experience Required:

2-5 years related experience.

Skill and Ability:

Excellent problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to structure analysis independently and identify root causes for issues.

Ability tomulti-task with extreme attention to detail while working on multiple projects.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to prioritize projects with several business areas.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and follow through skills.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a multicultural staff.
