Business Intelligence Developer IUS-NJ-PrincetonJob ID: 2024-19699Type: Full-Time# of Openings: 1Category: Information TechnologyOverviewUnder the guidance of the Senior Manager, Business Analytics & Outreach, this role is responsible for delivering exceptional first-level operational and production BI support to the University community using Cognos and Tableau. This role will diagnose and resolve issues, process requests, conduct performance tuning related to Cognos and Tableau reports and dashboards, provide customers with Cognos and Tableau usage metrics, process security requests, and author both technical and end-user documentation when needed. Additionally, this position will assist on special projects, such as application upgrades, data governance and metadata documentation efforts, and report and dashboard design initiatives.ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and resolve issues related to reports and dashboards in conjunction with technical staff and end-users. Assist in the evaluation and configuration of Cognos and Tableau security and application functionality. Conduct report and dashboard performance tuning to ensure a responsive and secure end-user experience. Complete application maintenance tasks, maintain BI application security standards and process security requests, and assist with Tableau license management. Utilize the Cognos Audit and Tableau Postgres databases, MotioPI, MotioCI, and other tools to provide customers with report and dashboard usage metrics. Gather report and dashboard requirements to coordinate and execute development of deliverables, create working prototypes, solicit user-feedback, and deliver enhancements. Assist curating data for the information warehouse, reports, and dashboards. Document business terms and associated metadata within new and existing data marts. Author and update impactful end-user educational materials and deliver effective training sessions, document procedures as knowledgebase articles in the ServiceNow catalog. Assist with maintaining CeDAR’s externally facing website. Assist with Cognos and Tableau upgrades, execute test scripts, resolve issues, and author documentation. Contribute to department projects and assignments under the direction of the project manager. QualificationsEssential QualificationsAt least 1 year of experience in a technical role supporting data analytics, reporting, and/or visualization. Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and derive meaningful insights. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with one or more reporting tools and its features, such as Tableau, Power BI, or Cognos Analytics. General understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts such as ETL and security management. Ability to trouble-shoot and solve data-related issues. Attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and reliability. Proven ability to investigate new tools, learn quickly and make meaningful contributions to a team.
