Anticipated period of employment: from 05/15/2025 to 10/15/2025.Three months of farm work experience is required.Crops: Asparagus, Bell Pepper, Cucumber, Eggplant, Squash, Watermelon, Zucchini
Perform manual labor to plant and harvest, grade and pack cucumbers, peppers, squash, asparagus, watermelon and eggplant by hand. Use hand tools such as hoes, knives, shovels, and harvest baskets. Determine produce sustainability for harvest based on size, degree of maturity, or market standards. Harvest produce using tools such as knives, clippers, and shears. Workers will not break skin, damage, drop, or bruise fruit or leave any appropriate product on the plant during harvest. Place harvest produce into trailer, that is being pulled by a tractor down the row while harvesting. Clean, grade, sort, wash, label, pack, and load harvested produce. Package harvested crops into bins, bags, boxes, plastic containers, and/or crates. Load and unload boxes, tools and materials onto pallets. Cultivate and weed field crops. Remove stakes, strings, irrigation drip tape, and plastic mulch.
Use hammers, wire clippers, and other tools to construct trellises and farm structures, and repair fences. Install or remove items required in plastic culture. Install or remove steaks, wire, netting, or string. Remove and clean plant debris or vines from ground or trellises. Train vines or plants on string or trellises. Install, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment. Dig and maintain
irrigation ditches, field rows and right-of-ways. Clean and maintain all ground and facilities. Perform farm, field, and shed sanitation duties. Assist in Good Agricultural Practices policies.
Ag Equipment Operators: Drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store grain crops. Attach farm implements, such as plow, disc and drill to tractor. Till soil, plant and cultivate grain. Tow harvesting equipment. Drive and operate self-propelled combine. General lubrication, service (check fluids).
