We are seeking a talented and motivated In-House Counsel to join our team as a 1099 Independent Contractor to work out of our Ledgewood, New Jersey office. As In-House Counsel, you will play a vital role in providing legal guidance and support to our organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and protecting our company’s legal interests.
Responsibilities:
Report to Owners on a regular basis
Support ownership & production dept. in all business matters, including but not limited to:
Contract generation and review
HR contract and related issues
Proceeds documentation
Cease and Desist; Demands and Releases
Collections and Customer default - collections calls, pursuing liens, organizing cases for outside counsel; court filings
Attend meetings, liaise with outside counsel and assist with case management
Preparing and filing of litigation and construction liens and arbitrations
Provide legal advice and counsel to various departments within the organization.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements.
Manage and oversee legal disputes, litigation, and compliance matters.
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the industry and advise accordingly.
Collaborate with external legal advisors when necessary and monitor litigation matters.
Assist in developing and implementing company policies and procedures.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) degree with NJ bar admission in good standing
Attorney work experience
Work in-house at our Ledgewood, New Jersey office & be capable of commuting to our office to work in-house.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
Strong independent problem-solving skills and work with a sense of urgency.
Ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Outlook
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of contracts & business law
Familiarity with lien laws and collections procedures
Some litigation experience
Proficient in legal research and writing
NY or PA bar a plus
Schedule
16 - 24 hours per week – on-site at Ledgewood, NJ office
Compensation - 1099 Independent Contractor
$60 / Hour
On a bi-weekly basis
Contractor shall submit detailed invoices with hours spent on each task to be authorized by Owners
Reimbursement for approved expenses such as postage
