Job Title: Full-time Live-in or Live-out Nanny (live-in can be 100% or just during the work week; for live-out, must live within 15-20 minutes) Live-in accommodation is a private bedroom ensuite.
Reporting to: The Parents
Location: Sea Girt, NJ but travel to Florida is required 3-4 times per year, for a week at a time
Hours: Tuesday – Saturday; 40 hours per week (split shift, help in the mornings, and then from school pick up to early evening) with flexibility to work some evenings, weekends and some holidays as needed
Salary: Starting at $35 per hour dependent on experience
Benefits: 10 days PTO, 5 sick days, Major federal holidays
The Family: Dad, Mom, 3 kids (6 yr B, 4 yr G & baby boy 4 months old by start date) & 1 small dog (a pug)
The House: 6,000sq ft; and 5 bed and 5 bath
The Staff: Cleaning company for deep cleaning once a week (could be increased to 2x a week if needed)
The Role
The primary responsibility of the nanny is to provide high quality childcare. The nanny’s aim is to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where the children can thrive and develop, both as sole and shared charge. They are also expected to help around the house, ensuring a tidy environment, and assist the family where needed with errands and so forth. The family asks the nanny to be available Tuesday to Saturday; but they must be flexible to changes in the schedule and able to adapt as required. The nanny will work at the principals’ primary residence in Sea Girt, NJ, but might be asked to assist on the occasional weekend and will need to travel with the family to Florida 3-4 times a year (for a week at a time) with notice provided. Evenings may be required for additional care (date night babysitting, but notice will be provided. A family car is provided for use when with the family. There is the possibility of assistance with relocation for the right candidate.

Childcare
Looking after all daily care requirements, including dressing, meals, school/nursey runs, homework, bath time, bedtime, etc.
Efficiently managing weekly schedules, ensuring school events and activities are planned for and coordinating extra circular activities and appointments
Organizing play dates, activities, and outings to socialize, educate, and engage the children during term time and school holidays
Scheduling appointments as needed and taking the children to said appointments, and daily activities
Looking after the health and well-being of the children; including administering medicine, making sure dental hygiene is routinely followed, organizing doctor’s appointments, and updating the family when the children are unwell
Assisting with educational development (i.e. engaging them with homework, school projects, language development, etc.), particularly during the school holidays
Keeping age-appropriate toys safe and in good working order
Ensuring zero screen time for the children, and ensuring they are kept busy with other activities
Assisting with relevant birthday presents and cards for the children’s friends
Disciplining the children when appropriate in a manner consistent with parents’ philosophy
Teaching and promoting excellent manners
Knowing when to step-in and step-out
Cleaning & Laundry
Tidying the children’s bedroom and play areas to ensure all games, books, toys, etc. are picked up, cleaned, and stored in their proper location
Tidying the kitchen after preparing meals
Laundering, ironing, folding, and putting away clothes for the entire family
Changing the children’s bed linens as needed
Light vacuuming and tidying across the house, e.g. emptying the dishwasher
Supplies and Belongings
Ordering supplies, uniforms, clothing, books, toys, etc. as needed and donating those no longer used
Restocking necessary childcare items
Keeping supplies neatly store
Supporting the Family & Team
Contributing to the smooth running of household where possible – answering doors, helping with errands if asked
Communicating regularly with the parents about the children’s schedule, progress, and well-being
Preparing for, and traveling with, the family as needed
Assisting with ad hoc projects around the home as needed
Requirements
Strong command of English language; good communication skills, both written and verbal
A clean valid Driver’s License, with own car to travel to and from work. Also confident enough to drive the children/ principals if required.
Legally able to work within the United States
Lives in the surrounding area; or willing to relocate
Happy to travel with the family as required
Minimum 2 years working in a similar role
Child educational background of some kind, to ensure good knowledge in developmental steps and rearing requirements
First Aid/ CPR trained
Must be happy to be vaccinated (COVID, Flu, TDAP, etc.)
Ideal if experience working with babies
Must be happy to work with pets (1 small dog)
Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
Happy to have a background check run (criminal & driver)
Happy to sign a confidentiality agreement and non-disclosure agreement before starting work with the family.
