Lakewood Country Club is seeking a part-time Banquet Manager to help promote and sell private banquets, weddings, and other functions. This person will also oversee the administrative and operational aspects of preparing and holding events. Integrity, a great personality, and excellent customer relationship skills are a must.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Engaging in sales activities in person, on the phone, and by email.
Setting up appointments for booking events.
Showing guests through our facilities.
Planning and coordinating logistics of functions through email, telephone, and face to face meetings.
Researching the latest catering trends to promote competitive catering services; revising menus as needed.
Helping prepare for weddings and other functions: coordinating room set-ups, entertainment requirements, etc.
Conducting pre-function meetings with scheduled staff and review all information pertinent to the service and set-up of groups.
Meeting with kitchen staff to review menu for each function.
Establishing par levels for supplies and equipment, including linens, napkins, tables, chairs, glassware, silverware, china, etc.
Handling deposits, billing, contracts; developing Banquet Event Orders.
Clearly assigning, communicating and delegating responsibility and authority to banquet staff.
Providing weekly summaries of outstanding Banquet Event Orders.
Inspecting function area for cleanliness, attractiveness, and proper layout.
Recruiting, interviewing, and training team members as needed.
Optional: Serving as Maître D for weddings and similar functions.
Performing other duties as assigned to meet business needs
Necessary Qualifications
Outgoing personality with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Able to provide great guest service via phone, written correspondence, and in-person meetings.
Two years of sales experience, preferably in a banquet hall /food service setting. Prior experience in selling wedding re receptions and other social events desirable.
2+ years of FOH experience working in banquets and events desirable.
Availability for flexible scheduling a plus, Saturdays a must.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff, and third party vendors
Basic computer skills. Will train on our catering management system. Caterease experience is desired.
Must be reliable and able to meet deadlines.
Excellent time management and organization skills; attention to detail and follow-up skills essential.
Must speak fluent English.
Benefits
Compensation: $18 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
