The yard spotter is responsible for the safe and efficient movement
of trailers and containers within a facility's yard or terminal. Working
closely with warehouse and transportation teams, the yard spotter
ensures that trailers are properly positioned for loading and
unloading, facilitates the flow of traffic in the yard, and adheres to all
safety and operational procedures
Responsibilities: Operate yard trucks or spotting tractors to move trailers and
containers between loading docks, parking spots, and storage areas.
Position trailers accurately at designated loading/unloading docks or
storage locations, ensuring efficient workflow and timely delivery of
goods.
Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while operating
yard equipment, including proper use of signals, lights, and
communication devices.
Perform routine maintenance checks on yard trucks and report any
mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate
personnel.
Maintain clear communication with warehouse personnel, truck
drivers, and supervisors to coordinate trailer movements and resolve
any issues or delays.
Keep accurate records of trailer movements, including trailer
numbers, locations, and arrival/departure times.
Assist in maintaining a clean and organized yard, including snow
removal, debris cleanup, and repositioning of storage equipment.
Respond promptly to any emergency situations or incidents in the
yard, following established safety protocols and procedures
Skills / Other: Fluency in both English & Spanish.
Must be able to understand written and spoken instructions.
May be working in crowded industrial spaces, so safety awareness is
key
Some assignments include responsibility to clean trailers.
