A leading accessories manufacturer is seeking a talented, creative accessory designer with experience in fashion and licensed character design to join the team. Strong experience in both product design and graphic design is required. Stationary experience is a PLUS. Role is onsite and located in NJ. Local candidates only. Amazing company to work for! Responsibilities:
-Collaborate with the design team and leadership to create innovative and trend-setting designs in a wide range of girls, tween,
ladies and men accessories including slippers, cold weather, hair, hats, bags, and stationery. MUST COME FROM THESE CATEGORIES or similar. No others will be considered.
-Work closely with leadership to conceptualize new ideas, create detailed sketches, and participate in the sampling process.
-Research market trends, competitor products and customer preferences to create new design opportunities.
-Stay updated on industry trends, fashion forecasts, and emerging technologies in the accessory market using WGSN and shopping.
-Use new artwork, item styles, materials, and colors relevant to the target consumer.
-Create sketches, technical drawings for new product concepts while maintaining the license property esthetic.
-Use the newest and most updated property style guides.
-Develop detailed product specifications and construction techniques on all sample development specs.
-Work closely with factories on sample development and for order requests.
-Work with the product development team to ensure designs are translated accurately into samples and for production.
-Submit all designs for license approval and follow up on the approval status with the license coordinator to advise the factory once the design is approved.
-Maintain accurate and up-to-date design documentation, including design files, tech packs and line sheets on the server.
-Will report to the Director of Design.
Qualifications:
-3+ years’ experience in a product designer position preferably in accessories, and a design degree in fashion, accessories, or graphic design.
-Talented illustrator with realistic rendering skills.
-Graphic artist with strong composition, layout and pattern print design skills a plus.
-Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop as well as Microsoft Office.
-Prototyping and mockup skills.
-Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes.
-Self-motivated, innovative and able to multitask under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
-Detailed-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.
