Are you an experienced Mechanical Estimator with a passion for construction bidding and proposals? Do you have experience working on ground-up building and industrial projects? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! Methuen Construction is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to provide essential support to the Estimating department. This position reports to the Vice President of Preconstruction and is not responsible for the oversight of other teammates. This is a full-time, salaried-exempt position. Your Role

The Senior Mechanical Estimator (SME) is responsible for all bid pricing related to Divisions 11, 13, and 15. At times, the SME will assist with—and perform—estimating for other Divisions

Create complete estimates for Methuen Construction’s self-performed process, process equipment, and instrumentation work. The SME also solicits and reviews all subcontractor and vendor quotes for the specifications of work that fall under their jurisdiction

Collaborate with the other job estimators, vendor coordinators, and project managers, when appropriate, to clearly define the scope of work to assemble an accurate bid and proposal

Perform neat, orderly and accurate takeoffs and pricing with no supervision or direction

Produce proposals and assemble bid packages required by the procuring entity

Effectively communicate the scope of work, risks, and potential value engineering items for each major project at a bid review meeting with the chief estimator and upper management

Interact with project owners, engineers, subcontractors and vendors as needed

Create complete and fully functional Excel spreadsheets and Word documents

Compile and maintain a material cost and production rate database for use in estimating spreadsheets

Collaborate with Project Managers and Field Teammates to keep production rates current and align estimating systems with current field technology and processes

Perform conceptual estimating to support Business Development using historical data and experience

Provide oversight, on the job training, and mentoring for subordinate Estimators and Junior Estimators

Perform other related duties as assigned

Your Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience

10+ years of experience in industrial construction with a broad understanding of the company’s main self-performed trades: millwrighting, pipefitting, rigging, and instrumentation installation.

5+ years of experience performing takeoff, complete pricing, and organization of complete estimates

Experience with overall ground-up construction through completion for both building and industrial projects

Ability to learn how to utilize advanced estimating software such as MC2, Planswift, AutoCAD and ISQFT is required for long term success

Travel

Travel is occasionally required for pre-bid meetings or site visits to jobsites located primarily in the Northeast. Travel outside the Northeast may be required but on an infrequent basis. Travel to support Business Development, equipment vendor training and relationship building, subcontractor vetting and relationship building, and client coordination is occasionally required.
