Job Overview:

The Hardscapes Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects. They will oversee and manage projects related to the Hardscapes Division. Hardscapes involves the design, installation, and maintenance of a variety of elements in outdoor living spaces. This role involves detailed coordination with clients, contractors, project teams, and relevant stakeholders. The PM will uphold Total Grounds standards of quality and safety while delivering projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with clients, landscape architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements.

Work with Hardscapes Supervisor to develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

Team Management:

Build and lead 1-2 active project teams, including project coordination with designers, contractors, and subcontractors.

Delegate tasks, guidance, and responsibilities to site crew leaders.

Motivate crew members to drive production and achieve goals.

Work with Supervisor and team members in career development, education, and hands-on training.

Assist supervisor with recruitment, discipline, and reviews of new and veteran employees.

Budget and Cost Control:

Monitor project budgets and expenses including labor, materials, hauling, and equipment costs.

Ensure projects are completed within budgetary constraints. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Track T&M Projects and communicate end results to supervisor.

Advanced Equipment and Software

Understand and use the latest technology for estimating, job tracking, employee hours, and schedules.

Understand the use of field technology tilt rotators, site levels, vacuum tools, etc.

Quality Assurance:

Oversee the installation of project elements, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.

Client Communication:

Maintain open and clear communication with clients throughout the project.

Address client concerns and provide updates on project progress.

Permitting and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with local regulations and permits.

Stay informed about industry standards and best practices.

Timeline Management:

Develop and maintain daily/weekly site schedules.

Monitor progress and adjust timelines as needed to meet deadlines.

Daily visits to project sites.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Resolve issues that may arise during the course of the project.

Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any issues promptly both during and prior to beginning site projects.

Account Management:

Maintaining good relationship / point of contact with key account(s)

Establishing relationships with future potential key accounts

Work with supervisor on change order estimates

Minimize scope creep, know when to propose change order

Capitalize on the ability to upsell when opportunities arise.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five years experience in the hardscape or similar industry

5+ years experience in project management, specifically in hardscape or construction projects.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Knowledge of hardscape materials, construction techniques, and industry trends.

Strong understanding of technical aspects of stone veneer, paver patios, block and natural stone walls, stairs, outdoor fireplaces, water features

Familiarity with relevant software (such as Aspire, Google platform, etc.) and tools for project management. Strong computer skills and willingness to learn programs used by Total Grounds and future estimating programs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
