Come join our team! East Coast Lumber is seeking a Staff Accountant for a Full-time position.

About Us: East Coast Lumber is a full-service professional lumber yard and building supply company located in East Hampstead, NH that has been family owned and operated since 1976. By supplying local builders, remodelers, and homeowners with all their building needs, we have become a preferred supplier of lumber and building materials, kitchen & bath products, builder’s hardware, millwork, and equipment sales, rentals, and service.

General Requirements:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred, but equivalent accounting work experience will be considered.

Minimum two (2) years of experience required.

Must have knowledge of basic accounting principles, bookkeeping practices, and office functions.

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner with other employees and management.

Must maintain confidentiality of all information and office work.

Excellent time management and ability to prioritize work.

Has the ability to listen and understand instruction and work independently and with others to complete the task.

Must be a team player willing to work closely with the employees in the accounting department.

The ability to multitask while paying close attention to detail is required.

Must be dependable and willing to work overtime, as needed.

Target Responsibilities:

All balance sheet entries and reconciliations including but not limited to; daily cash journal entries, bank reconciliations, accrual entries, fixed asset reconciliations, inventory reconciliations, GL accounts, Total Rentals reporting and account reconciliation.

Prepare and analyze financial information including but not limited to, income and expense variances, monthly manager reports, sale summary, daily sales margin reports, vendor rebates and warranty repairs.

Prepare and post all journal entries and financial reporting, including monthly financial statements.

Learn and backup all administrative functions including receptionist duties, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and human resources.

Prepare and file federal and state returns (sales tax, fuel tax, other non-payroll tax returns, 1099 & 1096’s)

Prepare and file all DOT reporting and Vehicle Registration (UCR, MCS-150 report, Form 2290 over-width permit, excess load permits, etc.). Related spreadsheets as well.

Create, update, and monitor accounting department policies and procedures.

Maintain and reconcile diesel fuel logs and fuel user records (diesel, gas, propane).

Assist in answering phones and other administrative duties.
