Concord Group Insurance is seeking a motivated and talented Commercial Lines Underwriting Supervisor to join our growing Commercial Lines book of business in the Underwriting Department. In this role you will provide leadership, coaching, technical underwriting expertise and support for a team of commercial lines underwriters. You will supervise and support the team to ensure underwriters are properly analyzing risk, making sound decisions, executing and working effectively to provide an exceptional customer experience.Responsibilities
Provide guidance to underwriters to ensure quality underwriting decisions are consistent with company policies and programs
Work within underwriting guidelines, department standards and approval levels. Identify issues or opportunities and recommend improvements
Manage teams to ensure assigned workloads are completed within quality, productivity and service standards
Coaches and mentors team members for growth and development
Identify trends and training needs from quality assurance program process
Monitors underwriting results and acts as needed to achieve profit and loss responsibility
Utilize rating manuals, reports, actuarial studies and the like on a national, regional/local level to provide support in the determination of acceptable risk for selected property
Assess local underwriting conditions of the territory and make suggestions that would effectively change the marketplace
Perform assigned agency reviews to evaluate performance and recommend corrective action
Collaborate with all departments with an emphasis on marketing/sales to assist with prospecting and creating/maintaining agency relationships
Other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, related field or other post-secondary education required
5-10 years of property and casualty underwriting experience specific to commercial lines
Supervisory experience preferred
Holding or pursuing industry designations, and certificates is desirable. CPCU preferred.
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
Leadership skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong understanding of laws, guidelines, and best practices of insurance
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and other software products
