Job Summary:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Sales Estimator to join our team, focusing on small commercial projects and repair work. This position combines estimating and sales functions, requiring both technical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing fast-paced projects with tight turnarounds, providing accurate estimates, and serving as a key liaison between our company and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating & Project Scoping:
Evaluate & assess project scope for small-scale commercial work, including tenant improvements, build-outs, and repair jobs.
Perform on-site visits to gather measurements, inspect conditions, and assess work requirements.
Complete quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and equipment.
Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing.
Create and submit clear, concise estimates and proposals tailored to client needs and budgets.
Sales & Client Engagement:
Communicate directly with business owners, property managers, and facility directors to understand project goals.
Present estimates professionally and explain scope, pricing, and timelines.
Maintain strong client relationships through consistent follow-up and excellent customer service.
Collaborate with clients to revise proposals as needed and assist in closing deals.
Coordination & Documentation:
Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure estimates align with execution plans.
Track estimates, bid status, and customer interactions using CRM and internal tracking systems.
Stay current on local labor rates, material costs, and small commercial construction trends.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in small commercial or repair-focused environments.
Solid understanding of general construction practices, codes, and small-scale commercial systems (HVAC, electrical, roofing, etc.).
Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and scopes of work.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a customer-first mindset.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction-related field a plus.
