JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for supporting patient communication, phone calls, and intake optimization of Nevada’s premier hand to shoulder center of excellence.
Hand Surgery Specialists of Nevada provides the most up to date techniques and procedures with a focused interest in the care and treatment of injuries and illnesses affecting the upper extremity from the hand to shoulder.
We pride ourselves on accessibility to patients, insurance carriers, adjusters, and referring physicians. By giving each patient the time and attention required for their specific condition, we believe we can effectively render excellent care while listening to their concerns, issues, and addressing their questions.
Additional tasks may include further front office tasks as delineated by the practice.
Successful applicants demonstrate prior experience in managing a high volume of phone calls, customer service, authorization and verification skills, and a team attitude.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providing exceptional customer service
Verifying insurance eligibility including initiation of prior authorization if necessary
Answering phone calls, triaging to clinical teams
Scheduling, including rescheduling appointments, including urgent and routine visits
Timely routing of faxes and clinical documentation
Further clinic support tasks as determined by practice administration
Consistently demonstrate a friendly attitude and caring demeanor
Respond to voicemails consistently and in a timely manor
Manage online intake scheduling forms

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school education or GED equivalency;
2-5 years’ experience in a medical office preferred
Phone triage: 1 year (Required)
Computer skills and incorporation of technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, electronic medical records use and application, online form generation
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Customer service and conscientious work habits
HIPAA guidelines
Basic knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic coding
Medical Coding - Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and ICD-10 diagnostic coding.
Active communication skills, including written and spoken
Critical thinking
The ability to recognize problems, identify solutions or route to coworkers for solution
Multi-tasking
Basic principles of revenue cycle management
Spanish language skills preferred, but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Strength (Lift/Carry/Push/Pull): Sedentary (exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally)
Standing/Walking: Occasionally; activity exists up to 1/3 of the time
Keyboarding/Dexterity: Frequently; activity exists from ¾ of the time
Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods.
Ability to perform constant repetitive hands and finger motions.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form

COMPENSATION DETAILS:
Salary commensurate with experience
