Additionally, the Lighting Project Designer is the local expert on current gear and emerging technology. This position is responsible for educating technical staff, sales staff, show-site staff, and branch management on equipment related issues. This position will interface broadly with other branches and warehouse personnel.This position will support our Audio Visual and Event Technology team. The position follows an in-person schedule working full-time in-office and/or show-site based out of Las Vegas, NV.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Works closely with clients, sales staff, operations, and project managers to develop lighting designs and to coordinate pre-production, onsite, and post-production activities in line with event budget
Creates wiring diagrams and lighting plots for shows based on budgeted designs; ensure on-site personnel have and understand this information
Recommends lighting personnel during scheduling process to ensure company resources are used effectively and follow company procedures and employee policies
Evaluates the competency of Lighting Specialists to ensure that Freeman’s quality standards are maintained
Reviews operational procedures within the department and makes recommendations for improvements to enhance operational efficiencies
Oversees equipment logistics and gear use to ensure that company resources are used effectively, including minimizing cross-rentals and efficiently using interbranch gear
Researches and recommends Capital Expenditure Lighting purchases for the company to keep abreast with current with industry standards and reduce cross rentals to maximize profitability
Develop lighting training programs to improve staff competency levels
Stays current with new and developing industry trends
Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in related field preferred
Minimum 10 years’ experience working in lighting production with a minimum of 5 years focused on corporate events, entertainment, or theater; or equivalent combination of education, certification and experience
Ability to engineer instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to communicate how to install and troubleshoot various related equipment
Advanced understanding of lighting systems and optimization
Advanced understanding of electricity, DMX signal flow, and lighting design fundamentals
Advanced understanding of conventional, LED, moving lighting fixtures, lighting for video, dimmers, power
distribution, and conventional lighting consoles
Experience with entertainment rigging, safety and structural stability
Experience programming Hog or GrandMA
Experience with ArtNet, sACN, or other networking protocols
Experience drawing system design in AutoCad, VectorWorks and/or Lightwright
Experience with pre-visualization software
Experience designing large-scale lighting systems with full-range lighting manufacturer equipment
Experience with advanced networking and media server integration preferred
Experience in formal leadership training preferred
Experience delivering formal training programs to diverse groups preferred
Strong general business acumen
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid state drivers license required
ETCP Entertainment Electrician or Rigging Certification preferred
