As a Utility Maintenance Technician, you will:
Execute utility maintenance tasks and assigned work orders.
Monitor equipment and machinery, addressing any irregularities or malfunctions.
Order and acquire materials, parts, and equipment required for assigned tasks and projects.
Conduct inspections of tunnels to identify and rectify leaks.
Disassemble, diagnose, repair, and reassemble equipment responsible for generating and transporting steam, hot water, and chilled water across various locations within the UNL campus.
Document, maintain, and submit records detailing maintenance activities.
Uphold and enhance safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards, adhering to site policies and procedures.
Utilize safety equipment, including fall protection, Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space entry protocols, and appropriate protective gear.
Maintain consistent attendance during regular work hours and work overtime when demanded by operational needs.
Adapt to work situations and effectively work independently or as part of a team.
What you bring to the position (minimum qualifications):
High school or equivalent experience.
5+ years of industrial maintenance or related education/experience.
Familiarity with tools and knowledgeable of machinery operation and maintenance.
Strong mechanical aptitude and skills.
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with common power and hand tools.
Good communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret prints and schematics.
Physical ability to stand, crouch, and lift objects throughout a standard workday.
Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Additional preferred qualifications:
Relevant coursework and/or specialized training beyond high school.
Experience with utility plant steam and chilled water production.
Experience with plumbing and steam piping standards.
Refrigeration handling certification.
