The primary purpose of this position is to provide appropriate music and accompaniment for the worship services at Springhill Presbyterian Church.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Preparation, Practice, and Implementation of Worship Services
Accompany congregational worship during weekly services and other special events, including all services during Christmas and Holy Week.
In addition to individual preparation, attend weekly band rehearsals in order to ensure distraction-free worship.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Desired degree in music performance and/or 3-5 years’ experience in performing music/leading worship.
Responsible for the appropriateness and readiness of all music rendered during church services.
Stay abreast of current music methods and materials (e.g., traditional and contemporary gospel, hymns, and praise and worship).
Proficient in guitar (and bass, if able), with the ability to read chord charts.
Musical leadership skills and ability to discuss instrumentation and balance
with musicians is a plus.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
