Electronics Engineer (Wage Offer: $136,000/yr): Design, fabricate, and characterize optical sensors and systems to validate their performance. Identify foundries and understand their capabilities. Plan project runs, create mask layouts, manage foundry runs, receive product, and test to evaluate performance. Identify packaging service providers and research electrical and optical Input/Output methods, identify optimum methodology and incorporate into project plans, oversee packaging of foundry output, and test to evaluate performance. Perform systems design and simulation of the prototyping ultrasound probe. Work with simulation and layout tools to optimize the assembly of sensors with transducers in a handheld package. Set up the test platform for the ultrasound sensor unit and system. Work with team members to specify the metrics and identify equipment and outsourced services needed to measure performance.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field. 2 years of experience (paid or unpaid) as an Electronics Engineer, Electronics Research Assistant, or a related occupation.
SKILLS: Must have:
1. Experience in sensor development from conception design to prototype system.
2. Experience with optical system and components (from light source, modulators, passive fiber components, to photodetector).
3. Experience with silicon photonics platforms and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
4. Experience in cleanroom and nano or micro fabrication.
5. Experience programming in MATLAB, Python, and Java to drive simulation, test, and analysis.
6. Experience with EDA software (Cadence) and PCB layout tools (Altium).
7. Experience in optomechanical design (FreeCAD, Fusion 360, Blender) and 3D printing (FDM and SLA).
8. Experience with finite-element-based optical design tools (COMSOL).
