Our work depends on Warehouse Specialist joining our team to perform the full scope of packaging, delivering and crating functions under limited supervision to ensure that shipments of general cargo and HAZMAT are packaged or crated in accordance with existing sponsor SOPs and regulations.HOW A WAREHOUSE SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Provide input but seek direction/guidance related to the packaging and labeling of HAZMAT; the performance of established packing steps for a wide variety of standard and non-standard items to be shipped; the determination of appropriate packaging materials to be utilized; the measuring and cutting of wood for the construction of custom crating; the blocking and bracing of material; the weighing, cubing, banding and applying burlap to packages; the utilization of Instapak and other packing materials, and the preparation of accurate and compliant documentation of HAZMAT package.

The work entails performing manual labor oriented tasks, including operating hand carts, sit-down and stand-up forklifts to reposition cargo; using various types of packaging materials and power tools to construct wooden crates; delivering, loading and unloading cargo from trucks, trailers, vans and other commercial type vehicles, and learning to operate and safely use all dock and lift gate equipment

The work requires effective written and verbal skills to communicate with customers and vendors

Verify material contents against packing lists and manifests, and verify data input to sponsor databases is accurate

Ensure that all shipments are carefully inspected for visible damage prior to signing internal tracking receipts or vendor chain of custody documents and notify supervisors if damage is detected or POC no available

Perform tasks related to office moves/mail deliveries /relocations/cargo pickup, such as the manual lifting and lowering of boxes, totes, bins, furniture office cubicle sections, wrapping of furniture and other items using furniture pads or stretch wrap

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: High School Diploma/GED or otherwise verifiable work experience

Required Experience: 1+ years of related experience

Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI w/Poly

Required Skills and Abilities: Effective written and verbal skills

Location: Springfield, Virginia
