Performs consultations, collects and documents data, and assists in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Orders and schedules laboratory studies.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collects patient histories, conducts physical examinations, and records data in patient's record; Writes progress notes; prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.

Orders, schedules land review laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explains necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.

Performs Telemedicine and Telehealth Patient Services when applicable.

Provides obstetric care to prenatal patients from the new obstetric visit throughout pregnancy and including the postpartum visit as follows.

Performs Fetal Heart Rate (FHR assessment, Nonstress Test (NST) interpretation, and pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment.

Initiates plan of care/diagnostic testing/interpretation of labs/ treatment plan based on the individual patient medical/surgical history. Prescribes necessary treatment and services for quality patient care. Reports progress to collaborating physician and maintains record of each patient's progress.

Provides patient education relating to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care.

Collaborates with other Nurse Practitioners to ensure clinic and telephone triage coverage.

Provides treatment of common gynecological problems including but not limited to: Methods of family planning and counseling for reproductive life planning; screenings and treatment of sexually transmitted infections; breast changes or masses; pelvic/abdominal pain.

Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Completion of a formal post-basic education program from or formally affiliated with an accredited college, university or hospital (Before July 1, 1998) or a graduate degree from an accredited college or university (After July 1, 1998) with a concentration in the appropriate advanced practice nursing clinical specialty area.

Board certified by a national recognized certifying board in the appropriate population focus

Current or compact RN licensure in appropriate state

Appropriate APRN license or document of recognition in appropriate state

EXPERIENCE

Three to five years RN bedside experience specifically High-Risk Obstetrics

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.

Constant standing and walking.

Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.

Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.

Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

Occasional lifting/moving of patients.

Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

Occasional driving.

Rare crawling and running.
