Heavy Equipment Technician

General Summary Description We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of heavy machinery, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, heavy duty trucks and other construction or industrial equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Duties/Responsibilities·Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on heavy equipment.·Inspect and test equipment for safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.·Conduct system overhauls, rebuilds, and part replacements as needed.·Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.·Use diagnostic tools and software to identify equipment malfunctions.·Maintain accurate service records and complete repair documentation.·Adhere to all safety regulations and workplace procedures.·Assist in training operators on proper equipment use and basic maintenance.·Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure equipment is operational.Minimum Requirements, Abilities and Expectations·High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification preferred).·2+ years of experience as a heavy equipment technician, diesel mechanic, or related field.·Proficiency in troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.·Ability to operate and test heavy machinery safely.·Strong understanding of diagnostic tools and repair techniques.·Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.·Ability to lift heavy parts and tools·Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).·Ability to work independently and as part of a team.·Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Union MembershipAs a signatory of theHeavy Constructors of Greater Kansas City, SB hires the following classifications of drivers and mechanics from theTeamsters Local 541and the operating engineers from theOperating Engineers Local 101 in the Kansas City Metro Area:Apprentice TeamsterJourneyperson TeamsterApprentice Operating EngineerJourneyperson Operating EngineerNon-union applicants are encouraged to apply; however, maintaining union membership in good standing with a union local within our operational jurisdiction is a condition of employment.Union Wage RatesWage rates are set during the collective bargaining process between the Heavy Constructors Association contractors and unions.Superior Bowen is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and will consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, genetics, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, national origin or any other legally protected status.PI272116620 Apply
