DoD Active Secret Clearance is must for this role.A desktop support specialist is an information technology (IT) professional who maintains computer hardware and software systems. They’re responsible for installing new programs, managing updates and providing technical support. Responsibilities typically include:Diagnosing and resolving technical issues with hardware or software systemsSpeaking with users over the phone, in person or via online chat to understand and troubleshoot technical issuesDetermining the need for and subsequently providing system reconfigurationAssessing user needs and recommending technical solutions such as patches, upgrades or enhancementsDocumenting technical support procedures and maintaining customer recordsResponding promptly to queries and providing information on the proper installation, maintenance and use of technical systemsCompleting thorough installations on the client environment by taking backups of data, upgrading systems as needed and installing new software or hardware solutionsComplete detailed reports listing requests to technical assistance, steps taken to resolve them, and the specific dates/individuals involvedAct as the initial point of contact for all computer and system related concerns from clients or other employeesAssist management in creating training materials pertaining to computer troubleshooting and usageOrganize and file documentation pertaining to warranties and instructional guides for computer hardwareMaintain a working log detailed all required system updates, as well as the date of completionAttend in-person meetings with clients to analyze, troubleshoot and diagnose hardware problemsResolve technical issues related to network interruptionsInstall and configure computer systems and applications within the company
