The Environmental Hygienist is responsible to the assigned Program Manager of Healthy Schools. This job will use Children's Mercy Environmental Health Policy and procedures to administer the Healthy Schools Program. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.ResponsibilitiesManages functions of the Healthy Schools Programs: a. Contributes to reporting of Healthy School assessment database(s). b. Leads Healthy School environmental assessments per CEH policy and procedures, and develops pre-defined scope of work for environmental assessment of homes/buildings and their components. c. Coordinate work activities in conjunction with Healthy Schools Program Manager(s) in performing environmental assessment activities in homes and/or school facilities. d. Coordinate the training of graduate student interns assigned to work within the Environmental Health Program. Environmental Assessments of Schools (and School District Office Buildings): a. Perform home and/or school environmental assessments per CEH policy and procedures, and the pre-defined scope of work. b. Ensure accurate and confidential documentation for assessments, study participants, and/or clients. c. Obtain appropriate and representative environmental samples. d. Document and maintain appropriate sampling records and chain of custody. Interpret and Present Results: a. Perform necessary calculations needed to interpret data and/or sampling results. Is this the same as item e above? b. Verify and document laboratory results. c. Interpret assessment findings using appropriate federal, state, and local standards, and professional judgment. d. Write comprehensive reports. e. Communicate results to appropriate stakeholders at home, schools, and CMH as appropriate. f. Provide general recommendations for remediation. g. Educate clients to understand results and recommendations of assessment reports. h. Assist in billing process as needed. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biological Science, Chemistry, and/or Industrial Hygiene and 3-5 years' experience.

Experience required assuring appropriate level of competency in environmental assessment; environmental public health, environmental consulting, environmental chemistry, industrial hygiene, understanding and using equipment that is used for sample taking in the commercial/industrial setting and experience working with the community.

The pay range for this job begins at $29.54/hr, but your salaried offer will be determined based upon your education and experience.Remote Work/Work from HomeThis is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location.
