Job Description:This position plays an integral role in supporting the organization’s work regarding cybersecurity and cyber insurance. The person in this role will work closely with state insurance regulators in assessing, monitoring, and responding to market trends and developments.Responsibilities:

Provides support for cybersecurity and cyber insurance policy related projects including, but not limited to, the development of white papers, model laws, model regulations, and model bulletins.

Provides technical support to those charged with representing the NAIC on cybersecurity initiatives in working with federal, international and industry partners.

Provides technical support of state cybersecurity tabletops as required (e.g., participate on expert panel, support planning and wrap-up calls, provide input on final work product or playbook, etc.).

Provides support to states with the implementation of the NAIC’s Data Security Model Law such as guidance on interpretation of regulatory standards, and the development of technical training.

Provide expertise to states in understanding and interpreting cyber insurance policy language.

Provides analysis of data received via the Property/Casualty Annual Statement Cybersecurity and Identity Theft Supplement (C)and suggest potential changes to the collection of cyber insurance data as needed.

Assists in assessing and monitoring the impact of insurance company cybersecurity exposures/vulnerabilities and cyber insurance trends on the NAIC’s Macroprudential Risk Assessment Framework.

Staff Support:Provides primary and secondary staff support for select groups including, but not limited to, the NAIC’s Innovation, Cybersecurity, and Technology (H) Committee, the Cybersecurity (H) Working Group, and the Information Technology (IT) Examination (E) Working Group. Support would include cybersecurity related expertise for the following tasks

Facilitates communication between state insurance department staff, NAIC internal divisions, the public and other insurance related individuals/groups.

Advises regulators on options and in assessing options for policy discussions and projects.

Plans for meetings by coordinating with the chair to prepare agendas, handouts, and presentations.

Prepares and disseminates communications, press releases, briefings, timelines, charges, work plans and other documents.

Drafts conference call minutes or summaries and minutes of meetings.

Ensures the groups take appropriate actions to complete charges as assigned annually.

Training, Research, and Presentations:

Develops and conducts training for state insurance regulatory staff analyzing, understanding, assessing, and evaluating cybersecurity and cyber insurance related topics.

Collaborates with Center for Insurance Policy and Research in the development and presentation of research on cybersecurity and cyber insurance related topics.

Skills & Abilities

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an easily understood format by non-technical users at all levels of the organization. This includes giving presentations using visual presentation tools.

Superior written communication skills, including proper grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.

Must possess the ability to independently perform analysis of information and summarization of findings.

Excellent prooing and editing skills.

Minimum Education & Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university program certificate with professional certifications (see below), and 5-7 years security related experience. ​

Knowledge of cyber insurance policy language and general understanding of the U.S. insurance industry.

Extensive familiarity with industry security standards (NIST 800-53, ISO 27001/27002, COBIT, PCI-DSS, HIPAA / HITECH).

Expertise with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) products.
