Reports to the Assistant Director for Youth and Family Engagement (YFE) in cooperation with the Waldo Branch Manager
40 hours per week
$20.39 per hour plus excellent benefits

Duties
Working as a team member with the YFE and Waldo staff to ensure continuity of quality service for teens, this position will:
Provide programming and services for teens and tweens as well as the important adults in their lives with a focus on supporting the development of social and life skills; leadership; critical thinking; and a love for learning.
Develop and implement STEAM, cultural literacy, health, and other types of programming for teens and tweens.
Provide opportunities for teens to mentor younger children.
Partner with schools and other youth service organizations.
Work as a member of the Waldo Branch team to provide basic library services.
Help teens and tweens discover learning and career pathways in their areas of interest.
Participate in and contribute to system-wide programs for youth.
You Need
The requirements for this position include:
A passion for youth development, reading, learning, and excellent community and library services and an ability to create a welcoming environment for teens and tweens.
Experience working with and advocating for youth and their caring adults.
Experience working in a library, a youth-serving organization, and/or an informal learning environment.
Outstanding customer service skills and a passion for providing quality service.
Ability to create programs and engage youth in learning, social or cultural activities.
Ability to speak and understand English. Additional consideration may be given to individuals that are fluent in any additional languages spoken in the Kansas City area including Somali, Swahili, Spanish, Arabic, French, Dari, Pashto, and Vietnamese.
Experience working with teens and tweens preferred.

Tues 11:30 am - 8:00 pm
Wed 11:30 am - 8:00 pm
Thur 11:30 am - 8:00 pm
Fri 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
Sat 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
