ROI Support - Medical Records, 0.4 FTE

3.25-hours per dayJOB SUMMARY: According to established policies and procedures receives, validates appropriateness, and processes requests for healthcare information in accordance with State and Federal regulations and guidelines. Enters requests in the electronic tracking system. Utilizes the Electronic Health Record system, paper charts, microfilm/microfiche to provide copies of healthcare information. Bills for requests as appropriate. Scans incoming medical records, as necessary. Has the ability to process records to meet turnaround timelines. Provides excellent customer service. Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of State, Federal, HIPAA regulations, medical record chart components, medical terminology. 1 year experience required. Computer skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills required to meet patients' needs and expectations.EDUCATION: High school diploma required. Course work in health information management/release of information preferred. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: RHIA, RHIT preferred.Aptitudes: Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic customer relations. Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments. Ability to focus on details and multi-task. Ability to examine records and verify patient identification. Ability to validate medical record requests and utilize computer systems to process records. Good eye and hand coordination.7110.86
