Position Summary: The Infection Prevention Coordinator develops and monitors the surveillance and Infection Control program for the Bozeman Health System: coordinates activities related to surveillance, prevention, and control of infection in order to minimize the risk of acquiring new infection by patients, staff and the community. Audits and reviews information for trends, providing feedback to appropriate leaders and committees and assisting in development of improvement plans.Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Community / Population Health or Infection Prevention/Epidemiology OR Montana Licensure (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) or Certified Medical Technologist (ASCP)

Two (2) years of experience in the clinical setting or clinical microbiology

Certification in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. required within 30 months of hire

Preferred: Knowledge of National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN)

Preferred: Two (2) years of hospital nursing or hospital microbiology experience

Essential Job Functions: In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.

Conducts the surveillance program for the hospital. Audits of records with accuracy and thoroughness, summarizing and reporting results to appropriate committees and leaders.

Gathers and submits Hospital Acquired Infection (HAI) data in compliance with regulatory agency requirements.

Develops, implements, and monitors the Infection Control program including but not limited to facilitating Infection Prevention and Control Council, and providing education at employee orientation, staff meetings, etc.

May serve as the subject matter expert and central point of contact for outbreak investigation and response.

Serves as the subject matter expert on organization committees including but not limited to Quality Management Oversight Council, Antimicrobial Stewardship sub-committee.

Assists Employee Health on exposures as needed with hospital policy and procedures and in compliance with regulatory agency requirements.

Assists with the development and follow through of improvement plans.

Maintains knowledge of Center for Disease Control guidelines and other regulatory agencies for Infection Control. Collaborates both internally and with key community organizations to maintain compliance with standards and regulations pertaining to infection control by DNV and CMS.

Schedule Requirements

This role requires regular and sustained attendance.

The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
