We operate the Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS as well as Regional Distribution Centers across the NA region.Mission/Purpose of the PositionThe Data Engineering Intern position is part of the Supply Chain E2E & Analytics organization within SML NA.This position will be heavily focused on data analysis and reporting within the logistics, supporting our implementation of LEAN practices. The incumbent will be required to design and produce reports that will be used to help North American leadership manage and perform the administrative duties associated with the operational success.The internship position is for the Summer of 2024, and the specific workdays and hours will be flexible, but agreed upon with the hiring manager.Essential Functions

Create and maintain digital analytics dashboards and visualizations to measure and analyze product performance to improve digital strategy.

Assist in data cleanup, organization, and basic analysis, ensuring our data remains pristine and actionable.

Work with large volumes and big data, in a highly complex business environment.

Own data analysis and automation to be able to transform data into meaningful and actionable formats and dashboards.

Work with BI and data analytical tools to develop business critical data solutions.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment around customer-facing communications.

Act according to the Volvo values.

Other duties as assigned by Management.

Minimum Education and Experience

Must be enrolled and pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, or Industrial Engineering.

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.

Interns may work up to 40 hours per week during the summer term.

Strong background with either Power BI or Data modeling is a must.

Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights.

Strong experience with SQL is a MUST.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to cloud computing Azure products such as Azure DevOps, SQL DB, Mongo DB-NO SQL DB and Data Studio

Previous experience of working with GitHub, Postman, Databricks or Enterprise Data Lake.

Ability to effectively articulate data solutions

Good story telling skills; A genuine passion for data and the stories it can tell.

Eagerness to learn, an inquisitive mindset, and a strong problem-solving ability.

Necessary Skills

Proficiency in the English language is required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively within a multi-cultural and international environment to all levels of the organization.

Ability to set priorities in a high-pressure and urgent environment.

Self-driven and motivated to take ownership and drive cross-functional activities and improvements.

Excellent computer skills, (Microsoft Office applications).
