This position will provide operational and strategic coordination and project management for the Minnesota Department of Health’s (MDH) Health Equity Division’s Policy and Systems Change team (PSC). In support of MDH’s health equity strategic priorities, this team works to advance and embed health equity across MDH through equitable policy making and systems change interventions. This position will coordinate the health equity review, monitoring, and assessment of MDH policies, procedures, and standards, and will foster sustainable incorporation of health equity into MDH policy processes through technical assistance and relationship building. This role will also contribute to the development and advancement of health equity-related legislative policies through coordination and strategic communications. In addition to the policy focus, this position will consult on ongoing systems change initiatives led by the PSC team, will serve as a liaison between the PSC team and other core units in the Health Equity Bureau. This role requires strong organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, a deep commitment to health equity, and an understanding of the importance of relationship building and systems thinking.Key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Coordinate and support health equity-related policy initiatives, including the equity review of internal policies, procedures, and standards, the development of novel equity policies, and advancement of health equity legislative policies.

Provide operational and strategic support for systems change activities.

Facilitate communication and collaboration between PSC and other teams in the Health Equity Bureau.

Support the PSC Supervisor in assessing the impact of PSC activities.

Perform other duties as requested by MDH.

This position is temporary and is expected to end on 6/30/2026.Candidates residing in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, or South Dakota may have the option to telework; however, telework schedules are based on the unit's operational needs and are at supervisory discretion.Minimum QualificationsTwo years or more of experience working in a public health related position in the following areas:

Experience reading, reviewing, and developing policies.

Experience initiating, managing, and successfully completing projects.

Qualifications to further be assessed during the interview process:

Strong background in health equity, racial justice, and systems change frameworks.

Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships and partnerships with a wide variety of partners, including State of Minnesota staff, non-profit organizational leadership and staff, and local government officials.

Ability to facilitate consensus and agreements with individuals and groups with various perspectives.

Ability to think logically and translate technical information into plain language for a variety of audiences.

Ability to make recommendations on important decisions and provide evidence to support decisions or help leadership make decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

Lived or work experience working with communities facing systemic inequities, including but not limited to access to resources, economic disparities, and health challenges.

Knowledge of the Minnesota Department of Health functions, policies, and procedures.
