Job Title: Medical Laboratory ScientistJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform clinical laboratory testing of moderate to highly complex nature, utilizing automated equipment and specialized processes. This role requires accurate interpretation of test results and the ability to identify abnormal results in submitted specimens. Perform clinical laboratory testing of moderate to highly complex nature under general supervision.
Use automated equipment and specialized processes for testing, accurately interpreting results, and identifying abnormal results of specimens.
Follow all laboratory established procedures and processes, including patient identification, specimen collection, diagnostic clinical testing, and documentation and data entry into the laboratory information system or patient result logs.
Recognize, document, and communicate unusual and/or critical result values.
Perform and monitor quality control processes, establish and monitor quality assurance, and maintain record-keeping systems.
Participate in quality improvement programs according to standard operating procedures to assure accuracy and validity of test results.
Perform calibration, maintenance, and performance checks on instrumentation according to standard operating procedures.
Participate in the preparation and evaluation of maintenance schedules and operating procedures for new instrumentation, including writing technical procedures according to regulatory protocol.
Perform troubleshooting processes for instrumentation, reagents, and inventory and/or patient samples as they occur and evaluate methods for solutions.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or Medical Laboratory Science.
Current certification as a Medical Technologist MT(ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Scientist CLS(NCA), or Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP).
6+ months of experience in a CLIA/COLA certified lab strongly preferred.
Completion of a CLS/MLS/MT training program.
Previous experience in a Hospital or Level 1 Trauma Center.
BLS certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
One year of experience in Hematology and Chemistry.
Work EnvironmentConsultants will be working in the central lab or supporting the smaller lab located in the ER. This position is within a Level 1 Trauma Center and will include scheduled holidays and weekends. The working hours for this night shift role are from 11 pm to 7:30 am, every other weekend.
