FULL TIME SHOP ASSISTANT
Position Summary
Essential Responsibilities
General vehicle maintenance on tractor/trailer units
Building maintenance
Prep work for fabricating (grinding, cutting, etc.)
Installing trailer liners
Installing and maintaining trailer tarps
Change tires
Clean and maintain work area
Comply with all requirements and expectations detailed in the Safety, Accident Prevention & Policy Manual
Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic mechanical aptitude
Ability to learn general mechanical functions of tractor/trailer
Ability to drive maneuver semi/trailer combination or ability to quickly learn to drive and maneuver semi/trailer combination
Ability to demonstrate and apply common sense in performing of basic requirements
Clean driving record is a plus
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Hours: M-Th 3:00 pm to 12:00 am : Friday 3:00 to 9:00 pm
Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 70 pounds
Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, welding protection, face shield and hardhat
Must provide own tools and toolbox/chest
Frequently required to use hands to handle, finger, feel and reach with hands and arms
