Supervisor of Hockey Operations

SUMMARY

This position is a night weekend position and is primarily responsible for managing the comprehensive maintenance operation of the Fogerty Arena. This position is also responsible for assisting the Executive Director and Director of Hockey Operations with the operations and activity programming including supervising, directing, and managing all programs and services the facility provided by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assists in supervising and coordinating the installation, maintenance, and breakdown of ice surfaces, meeting rooms, and dry floor events/activities.

Assists with building asset, staffing, and maintenance planning.

Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Fogerty Arena.

Assists in the implementation of cash handling policies and procedures for the facility.

Manages and supervises the facility as scheduled. Scheduled as the primary supervisor games and events.

Assists with locker room assignments as necessary.

Is responsible for keeping operating records as required for daily activities and mechanical operations.

Oversees building control and building security, as well as all equipment inventory.

Is responsible for building maintenance and custodial duties in the facility.

Maintains quality ice, regular edging, temperature, and depth readings.

Performs or directs maintenance work accordingly.

Maintains public relations and patron satisfaction.

Acts as a liaison for the Executive Director to leaders representing the major users.

Assists in training, and development of maintenance staff and other temporary employees.

Supervises part time building supervisors, to include assigning, reviewing, and evaluating work.

Works independently and develops solutions to problems with minimal supervision.

Provides supervision of maintenance activities in the facility and assist in coordinating use of the facility.

Takes inventory and purchases necessary supplies and equipment for arena operations.

Maintains custodial equipment to include but not limited to, floor scrubber, sweeper vacuum, carpet extractor, and upright vacuum.

Maintains and operates ice maintenance equipment to include but not limited to, ice resurfacer and ice edger.

Reviews the ice maintenance operations of the facility, keep accurate recordings and maintenance records of mechanical equipment.

Ensures ice plant equipment is monitored and communicates repair and preventative maintenance issues to the Facility Manager.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to operate various machines and equipment.

Skilled in negotiating resolutions and solving problems between user groups.

Skilled in promoting, advocating facility usefulness.

Ability to encourage employees to work to full potential.

Ability to maintain positive and orderly work environment.

Ability to direct and lead activities during public events.

Ability to communicate with various groups and interested parties.

Ability to learn how to utilize various software packages that include: accounting, registration, facility, and league scheduling software.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Skating, hockey or curling skills and knowledge of related programming is desired.

Knowledge of building maintenance including ability to understand heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical and structural matters.

Knowledge of industrial refrigeration equipment for an indoor ice facility.

Knowledge of food preparation and distribution.

Knowledge of building, health and safety codes.

Possesses knowledge and understanding of HVAC equipment and how it relates to a quality/safe building environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and extreme heat. Much of the work is done on a slippery surface. Occasional work in varying environments including warm/cold temperatures.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $35,000 to $75,000 per year. Full healthcare benefits for the employee paid by the company. Health Savings Account contribution. A 401(K)-profit sharing retirement program after 1 year of service. Personal Time Off (PTO) starts at two weeks and increases over the years of service. In-house short-term disability program.
