Hello!
We are an Adult Foster Care home looking for an all-around house worker and cleaner. The job is focused on room cleaning, kitchen cleaning, and cooking. Other aspects of the job are reminding people of chores and social interaction, as well as general housework and cleaning.
We do not mind if people bring their children if they do not substantially interfere with job duties. We have games, toys, art supplies, and other kid distractions. Everyone here is good with kids. We provide dinner and snacks. We also have coffee and other beverages
available.
Compensation
Compensation starts at $22/hour. After 3 months, that rises to $23/hour. After 6 months, that rises to $24/hour.
Sundays have a higher compensation of an additional $2/hour.
One person requires more help in his room (see Expectations below) and hours spent working in his room are $2/hour extra.
This pay cannot be combined on Sundays.
Scheduling and Hours
The schedule is flexible around a few requirements. Help with dinnertime is a requirement and must include the hours of 5pm-7pm. Hours before 5 and after 7 are entirely flexible to your schedule. As for days, we are flexible with one exception. We need assistance on Sundays to assist with trash and recycling. We would expect at least 3 Sundays a month of work. We would prefer a minimum of 15 hours a week of help.
Expectations
We are an Adult Foster Care Home that takes care of young men. They are all wonderful guys who need assistance with daily living activities. This job is to fill in and provide support for the things they do not do. They are very independent and take care of their own needs for the most part. They need help with chores and cleaning. They are also looking for positive social interaction and connection. We currently have 6 people who we care for.
One specific person has exceptional trouble with cleaning, laundry, and hygiene. He does not need bathing assistance but requires regular reminders to bathe. Part of the job is working with him to change his bedding, clean his room, pick up trash, remove dirty dishes and food from his room, and clean laundry. Working with this individual is a requirement of the job. Compensation is higher when working with this person as noted above. Some other requirements are being able to lift 50 lbs. and be able to pass a Minnesota Background Study (https://mn.gov/dhs/general-public/background-studies/).
This job is very repetitive
Many tasks will be repeated either daily or weekly and some people may feel as if their work is reset each day they come in. Every day the kitchen will be messy. Every day there will be dishes. This is normal and expected. We work with everyone to make improvements in their habits, but these will be slow or non-existent. If you accept this job, please keep in mind that these men, while they seem very capable, have disabilities that specifically make it
difficult for them to accomplish these tasks.
That is why we are hiring someone
