Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food industry, particularly in food preparation and handling, with a focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards while ensuring food safety and maintaining kitchen cleanliness.

Training

Saji-Ya's Executive Chef Noe Frausto and team are excited to train a chef who may not have sushi experience. The applicant must still have a minimum of 2 years of work experience.

Duties

Prepare and present sushi dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards.

Ensure that all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled in compliance with food safety regulations.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area.

Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.

Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management.

Skills

Proven experience in the food service industry, preferably as a Sushi Chef or similar role.

Strong knife skills and proficiency in various cooking techniques related to sushi preparation.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for handling raw fish and other ingredients.

Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Excellent attention to detail with a passion for culinary arts and presentation.

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
