Sportradar leverages technology solutions to streamline compliance processes and is seeking an Indirect Tax Specialist to join the Finance team. This position will collaborate closely with and report to the Senior Tax Manager (U.S. Tax Lead). The Indirect Tax Specialist will serve as Sportradar’s indirect tax subject matter expert and oversee all compliance and reporting responsibilities for U.S. subsidiaries.  Applicable indirect taxes will include U.S. sales & use taxes, personal property taxes, gross receipts taxes, and other jurisdiction-specific taxes such as, but not limited to, Canadian HST/GST/PST, NYC Commercial Rent Tax, and Puerto-Rico filings and declarations. THE CHALLENGE Manage indirect tax filing due dates and filing frequencies; regularly review for necessary changes or updatesReview sales and use tax returns prepared by external service provider (Avalara) and preparePrepare tax returns for other indirect tax types as requiredMonitor nexus and increasingly complex reporting and registration requirementsResolve all tax notices, questionnaires, and inquiries received from tax authorities and other regulatory bodies for assigned tax typesPerform regular nexus/risk assessments for Senior Tax Manager review and communicate results to Global Head of Tax and other stakeholders as necessaryPrepare new registrations and/or voluntary disclosure agreement requestsPrepare well organized, detailed, and conclusive tax research for indirect tax topics as neededProvide regular status updates to U.S. Tax Lead on new filing obligations, nexus studies, and status of various projectsCollaborate closely with key systems and process owners to define, document, and implement processes, policies, and controls to mitigate indirect tax riskProvide tax account documentation and obtain status certificates upon request from stakeholders and regulatory authoritiesUtilize indirect tax research platform to monitor key tax changes and developments across U.S. and global markets to ensure compliancePrepare and maintain Sportradar’s tax exemption certificates on purchases and communicate directly with related vendorsReview U.S. subsidiary purchases for use tax obligations, discrepancies on vendor invoices, and collaborate with procurement team as necessaryReview, validate, and maintain storage of all sales tax exemption certificates provided by customersProvide clear and concise answers to frequently asked questions regarding taxability, tax rates, exemptions, and invoicesOccasional travel, both domestically and internationally ABOUT YOU Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (advanced degree or CPA credential preferred)Minimum 10 years of related experience; must include 5+ years working at a large company in indirect tax or a related departmentVery strong knowledge and overall understanding of U.S., Canadian and Puerto Rico indirect tax laws and procedures (i.e., sales & use, GST/HST/DST, etc.)Experience with indirect tax laws in other jurisdictions (VAT) preferred but not requiredRecent experience working with Avalara platform as an administrator/key person (Avatax, CertExpress/ECM, Managed Returns, etc.)Moderate to advanced user in MS Excel and MS 365 applications (MS Dynamics for Finance preferred)Strong attention to detail and tax technical/research skillsProactive team player with the ability to collaborate closely across global cross-functional teams and effectively communicate tax concepts to both tax and non-tax audiencesExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple and often shifting priorities/deadlines in a fast-paced environmentMotivated to learn new systems, improve and automate tax department processesDedication to personal development through education, training and acceptance of new assignments OUR OFFER A collaborative environment with colleagues from all over the world (Offices in Europe, Asia and US).  Ability to shape your own workday and career via a clearly defined professional and personal development plan. Opportunity to work with senior leadership, develop yourself and build your career within an inspiring and fast-growing company and digital sports environment. Vibrant and inclusive community, including Women in Tech and Pride groups which welcome all participants. Flexible work arrangement. New office with several additional benefits. OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS  Initial Screening: A quick chat with our Talent Acquisition Partner to understand your background and expectations. Two technical Interviews: Meet with the Technical team and Hiring Manager to dive into your solution and your expertise, as also discuss team fit. Final Steps: Receive feedback and, if successful, an offer! We keep it simple and aim to wrap up the process within 3 weeks. Pay Range: $90,000 - $115,000
Sportradar intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, qualifications, and location.
