Hennepin Schools is a public K-8 charter school founded in 2012. Our mission is to ensure all students achieve academic success by developing community builders, confident learners, and cross-cultural navigators on a 12 acre preserve in south Minneapolis.
We are seeking a hard working professional as a Grade 5-8 Building Reserve Teacher to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. Your Job: As a full time, Building Reserve Teacher (Building Substitute) at Hennepin Schools, you would work with a dynamic team to create and maintain classrooms that support our mission to:
Ø Provide a safe, nurturing and cooperative learning environment where children discover their personal and academic strengths
Ø Cultivate a sense of respect and responsibility
Ø Create a sense of social awareness and a social bridge to the broader community
Ø Provide a curriculum that leads each child to educational success and closes the achievement gap
Ø Instill self-esteem, confidence and a positive attitude in every child
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ø Use MN State Standards to implement appropriate daily lesson plans designed to maximize every student’s potential
Ø Implement the school-wide PBIS discipline policy
Ø Participate in all team-wide meetings and professional development
Ø Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications and Requirements:
Ø MN Teacher's License or a four year degree in a related field
Ø Ability to interact well with staff, students and families
Ø Strong behavior management skills
Ø Strong literacy content and instructional knowledge
Ø Experience working with students of color
Ø Detail oriented, flexible and able to multitask
Ø Professional demeanor and appearance with a positive attitude and a sense of humor
Ø Excellent planning and organizational skills
Ø Self-motivated, proactive and resourceful in the completion of work assignments
Ø Sense of accountability and ownership for work results
Ø Knowledge of the following computer applications: Smartboard Notebook, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ø Ability to maintain status of “not disqualified” upon completion of criminal background and MN disciplinary incidence research
Ø Highly preferred bilingual or multilingual, Pashto, Spanish or Somali preferred
Ø Highly preferred minimum of two years teaching experience
