About the Role

Our client is seeking a reliable, hands-on Security & Facilities Manager to oversee the daily operations of a retail shopping center. This is a full-time, on-site leadership role responsible for managing the property's security, maintenance, and cleanliness. The right candidate will lead by example—personally working one of the daytime security shifts and ensuring the property remains clean, safe, and welcoming for all tenants and guests.

Key Responsibilities

Security

Lead and manage the on-site security team: hiring, scheduling, supervision, and discipline.

Regularly patrol the property and monitor security cameras for safety and risk prevention.

Serve as a friendly, reassuring presence for tenants and visitors.

Respond promptly and calmly to on-site incidents or emergencies.

Personally cover one daytime security shift (e.g., mornings), maintaining daily visibility.

Maintenance

Perform routine property walk-throughs and coordinate minor improvement projects.

Handle basic handyman tasks: painting, light repairs, door fixes, lightbulb changes, etc.

Change HVAC filters every 6 months and oversee general upkeep of building systems.

Coordinate and supervise outside vendors for specialized or large-scale repairs.

Cleaning

Ensure the cleanliness of 20,000 sq. ft. of interior common space, plus exterior areas.

Operate floor cleaning machines and other maintenance equipment daily.

Maintain parking areas, entrances, and other high-traffic zones.

Support & Communication

Serve as a liaison between property management and tenants, handling minor concerns or questions on-site.

Assist with property showings or walkthroughs when needed.

Communicate regularly with the mall office to report issues and provide updates.

Be an on-site problem-solver and dependable resource for ownership and leadership.

Qualifications

Experience in security, facilities management, building maintenance, or related field.

Proven ability to lead teams while being hands-on and self-motivated.

Friendly, calm, and professional demeanor with a strong sense of accountability.

Familiarity with basic technology: phones, email, camera systems, and digital controls.

Local to the Minneapolis–Mankato area and experienced working with local service vendors.

Additional Expectations

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who takes full ownership of the property. You’ll be expected to:

Understand and manage key building systems (access controls, HVAC basics, etc.).

Step in when management is off-site or unavailable.

Maintain a strong presence during business hours and act as the go-to contact for tenant needs.

Balance physical work with leadership responsibilities and proactive communication.
