The positions have a projected end date of June 30, 2027The position is under the Agency's Office of Equity and Environmental Justice team at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). The position performs community engagement tasks in relation to the agency’s cumulative impact and air toxics rulemaking process. This position will implement proactive outreach strategies that open a dialogue between the MPCA and Minnesotans, ensuring that the people’s voices are heard and valued by the MPCA and that the concerns and priorities of Minnesota’s diverse communities can inform the work of state government. The position is dedicated to serving communities throughout the state, with an emphasis on Environmental Justice Areas of Concern.This position commits to using an equity mindset to cultivate and maintain relationships with diverse communities and organizations and will develop and execute outreach events with key stakeholder groups to support MPCA initiatives and engagement opportunities.Minimum QualificationsThree (3) years professional experience planning, implementing, and evaluating work and/or initiatives in the areas of community engagement, community organizing, issues management, public relations and/or public affairs or a similar field. (A bachelor’s degree will substitute for one year of experience in the above areas) ANDExperience in project management and navigating ambiguous projects.Excellent communication skills, including engagement plan development and execution of crafting messaging, content strategies, andwriting with the ability to clearly distill complex topics into concise analysis.Ability to effectively and confidently persuade, present, and champion recommendations and objectives.Demonstrated curiosity, creative problem solving and leadership skills.Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.Valid Class D Driver's License.The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver’s license AND a satisfactory DLR check. Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license.
