Summary:Duluth Public Schools is seeking an individual to assist teachers, other licensed staff, and parents with the educational and social activities, as well as the care and feeding, of pre-school and elementary school age children. Assists in creating an appropriate educational environment for children.Minimum Qualifications Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED certificate and at least three months experience working with pre-school children.60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits or a passing score on the Parapro Assessment testDesirable QualificationsKnowledgable in child development and parentingGeneral understanding of early childhood programs and standardsAbility to work cooperatively with children and adultsAbility to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, staff and communityAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to perform physical aspects of positionAbility to observe and record accuratelyAbility to meet federal/state guidelines (where appropriate) and/or to successfully complete specified in-service coursesDemonstrated understanding of issues around economic poverty, privilege, racism, equity and diversityEffective verbal/written communication skillsAdditional Information:This is a temporary position through June 09, 2023 per Article 7, Section 2 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
