Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Medical Front Desk Specialist in the healthcare industry located in Alexandria, Minnesota. This role is integral to our team, serving as the initial point of contact for patients and referring professionals. The successful candidate will handle diverse tasks, including answering phones, maintaining patient records, scheduling patient procedures, and acting as a liaison between medical technologists and patients. This is a contract employment opportunity, ideal for an individual with strong organizational skills and an ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical environment.Responsibilities: Serve as the first point of contact for patients and referring professionals, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience. Answer phones and handle calls in an efficient and friendly manner, fielding calls appropriately for center associates. Register patients for imaging services, process demographic information, and manage payment plans and copays. Schedule patients and enter orders, maintaining an accurate database on all current and potential referring physicians. Maintain patient records accurately within the radiology information system (RIS). Act as a liaison between technologists and the patients waiting for exams, relaying messages regarding scanner status and other clinic information. Assist with arranging interpreter services, transportation, and hotel accommodations for patients when necessary. Order office supplies as needed and maintain the front office lobby area. Handle release of information requests for patients, referring offices, other medical facilities, attorneys, and insurance companies following company guidelines. Utilize knowledge of insurance carriers and procedures that require waivers to obtain authorization if needed prior to appointment. Skills: Proficiency in managing switchboard phones (1-10 lines) Experience with scheduling and order management Ability to order office supplies as needed Familiarity with fax machines and their operation Knowledge in managing medical records. Requirements Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role within the healthcare industry Proficient in managing switchboards, preferably with experience handling 1 - 10 lines Skilled in scheduling appointments, meetings, and managing calendars Ability to order and manage office supplies efficiently Experience with fax machines and other office equipment Knowledge and understanding of medical records management Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment High level of attention to detail Strong organizational skills Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite High level of discretion and respect for patient confidentiality Understanding of medical terminology is desirable Able to provide high-quality customer service.
