Facilities Technician

The Facilities Technician will provide direct, hands-on support for facilities maintenance and improvement efforts across the Alexandria site along with supporting the EHS (Safety) activities of the site.  This position will work with the Facilities Coordinator and will support a variety of projects and teams across the organization.In addition, this position will support a variety of Safety and Health related activities as part of it’s daily responsibilities – performing inspections, completing documentation, and supporting the Safety and Health needs of the Alexandria site.Areas of responsibility:Facilities maintenance and improvement using a variety of toolsMovement of materials using non-motorized and motorized equipmentUtilization of forklifts and aerial liftFacilities inspection and documentation dutiesFacilities and common area part/supply managementPest control activities inside and outside of the buildingSafety inspection and documentation dutiesChemical and biological waste documentationLight facilities janitorial dutiesParticipation in the site Safety CommitteeSafety systems maintenance and supportOther duties as assignedApproximate breakdown of duties will include:Facilities-related activities: 80%EHS-related activities: 20%To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to capably perform each of the following essential functions:  Essential Functions:  Excitement for working in a fast-paced environmentDesire to be a team player - making a significant contribution to the business operations and organizational successFlexibility to work on a diverse mix of projects and prioritiesPassion for supporting team members and responding to their needsHigh attention to detail and follow-through to support operations in an ISO: 9001 and ISO: 13485 manufacturing environment.Self-starter with the ability to take on projects and see them through to the point of completion with minimal oversite. Behavioural & Interpersonal Competencies:Resonate and operate in line with LGC’s core value behaviors: Passion, Curiosity, Integrity, Brilliance, and RespectPromotes cooperation and commitment within a diverse team across the Alexandria site and with vendors to achieve company goals and deliverablesEffective oral and written communication skillsHighly adaptable and willing to change and flex work priorities as needs requireHighly motivated and proactive individual who asks questions, seeks to understand, and gets resultsPassion for organizational safety and team member engagement in safety-related activities
