Job SummaryUnder minimal guidance of the Director of Biostatistics, the Biostatistician Intern will work with investigators to design the study, plan data collection, clean large and complex data, and analyze the data using a variety of advanced and cutting-edge statistical techniques to provide information for scientific or clinical research. This work may include preparation of the statistical aspects of manuscripts, posters and abstracts.Essential Functions

Study design using EMR data, work with investigators to design research studies while addressing limitations of the EMR data, such as informative missing data, using novel statistical techniques.

Plan data collection, including data elements to pull from EMR and merge/clean many large data files (can go up to 50 files) for the statistical analysis.

Data analysis using standard statistical techniques and cutting-edge methods, such as causal inference, network analysis, machine learning and deep learning. Evaluate potential bias related to data collection and use appropriate statistical techniques to address the potential bias.

EMR data analysis is generally complex, the Biostatistician Intern should have the ability to conduct independent research by reading medical/statistical method papers, identifying novel statistical methods, and applying them or developing new methods to solve the complex problem.

Prepare numerical information for presentation in the form of computer output, graphs, tables, written reports, or other methods. Prepare statistical sections of scientific publications, posters and abstracts.

Perform other tasks as requested by the Director of Biostatistics.

Qualifications

Required Bachelor's Degree

Required Completed at least two semesters of graduate study in a Master’s or PHD program in Statistics, Biostatistics or a related field with strong analytical skills required.

Prior work experience in public heath, epidemiology, and/or biomedical research is desirable, for example, experience in statistical applications or statistical consulting as part of graduate studies. Required
