We're hiring line cooks, waitstaff, expeditor, dishwasher and grounds keeper to work and explore Drummond Island Michigan!
We are searching for people to help join our team and exceed being the best restaurant, bar and campground on Drummond.

Line Cooks
TRAILHEAD RESTAURANT, BAR & CAMPGROUND
LOCATION:
Drummond Island, Michigan. Off the eastern tip of the U.P.
WAGES/PAY:
$18.00 - $20.00 / hour
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience required, Serve Safe a plus, Cleanliness a must!
START DATE:
May 1st, 2025, 40-50hr weeks (most likely sooner we need to excel in menu/inventory/and start up)
We’re hiring a line cook on Drummond Island, Michigan.
Bonus end of season $1,000 If work til Oct. 19, 2025!
Groundskeeper/Dishwasher/Expeditor:
Position Type: Full-Time, Seasonal
Pay: $15-18/HR (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)
Bartender/Waitstaff:
Position Type: Full-Time, Seasonal
Pay: $8-10/HR + tips! (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities:
Perform all duties toward the goal of providing excellent guest service in an efficient manner.
Follow all policies, procedures, and service standards.
Job specific but for cooks responsible for prep, set-up, service, clean-up, and restocking of cooks line and appropriate prep areas.
Adhere to all sanitation requirements including product rotation, temperature maintenance and record keeping, storage procedures, cooking requirements, and handling techniques.
Ability to complete orders, by the plate or the pan, properly, according to approved menu specs, and in a timely manner.
Ability to work from prep and par lists and follow standardized recipes. Commit food specifications to memory.
Comprehending and extending/converting recipes.
For all positions:
Develop and maintain positive communication and teamwork with all co-workers and supervisors.
Professionally conducts themselves with the awareness that all actions and communication including:
Camp surveillance: we watch our campers to make sure safe return, we have in the past noticed they had not returned, we found they either got stuck or equipment broke down on trails-which we can alert fellow campers to look for and law enforcement.
Maintain appearance and standards.
Work quickly, efficiently, and safely with all kitchen/bar equipment.
We are open Tuesday thru Saturday, but much work needed before hours/after and on Sunday and Monday even when closed.
Qualifications:
Previous line experience. Although we can train also, again if you have current Servesafe, this is a plus in hiring.
Knowledge of basic sanitation and kitchen equipment skills.
We do take recommendations on menu items and can change menu to suite customers.
To all JOB titles:
Ability to absorb large amounts of information in a short period of time.
Ability to follow directions.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, approximately 8 hours.
Ability to work in a hot environment for long periods of time, approximately 8 hours.
Must be able to bend, stretch, and reach for extended periods of time.
Room and Board (sorry no pets)
We have gone all out to provide the nicest housing for affordable rent, we are open to making living spaces a commons area if needed! We currently have a large apartment with 3 private rooms and also a 2 bedroom which are both rentals each have a dining, living room, bathroom, washer/dryer and kitchen just 2 miles from Trailhead. Walking distance from Trailhead across the road is a 2 bedroom apartment, kitchen and a bathroom. And we have more housing options available including a campsite and more!
(Please note: I had an employee, inform me early 2024 he was told "house" by a previous employer, only to find he was bunk to bunk with co workers THIS IS BY NO MEANS THE SITUATION! and thus far he says coming back!)
Getting Around
There is no public transportation or taxi/Uber service on Drummond Island. It is recommended that you bring a car, preferably an SUV if you plan exploring trails and backroads.

-There is NO WIFI yet set for housing. There is WIFI at Trailhead inside and just outside building.
Drummond Island is located off the eastern tip of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A car ferry is required to cross. Drummond's tourism is only growing with ATV/Jeep 117 miles of loop trails system. There is also great kayaking if on an inland lake or exploring for shipwrecks on Lake Huron. Fishing has ALWAYS been popular on the island all year long and there’s so much more to offer on Drummond.
Trailhead Restaurant, Bar and Campground is a Veteran(s) owned business literally built from the ground up with our Kelly Excavating, construction, redi mix business in 2010.
Also looking for a carpenter and CDL driver for excavating business housing available for rent/paying top wages
