Peckham Inc. - Youth Career Academy Coordinator SUMMARY Under the supervision of Juvenile Services Manager, the YCA Coordinator is responsible for the development and supervision of the Youth Career Academy (Ingham) program and for the youth referred from the 30th Judicial Circuit Court - Family Division. Responsibilities include program planning, budgeting, ensuring contract compliance, and supervision of staff; hiring, training, development, evaluating, counseling, and termination. This position oversees the development, implementation, and documentation of each youth’s treatment plan, participates in the clinical consultation, treatment conferences, and in crisis interventions.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and support programs for youth referred by the 30th Judicial Circuit Court - Family Division.

Supervise YCA Youth Program staff providing vocational support, academic support, and treatment support.

Coordinate services between Peckham, the Circuit Court Family Division, and the Ingham Intermediate School District.

Screen all referrals against exclusionary criteria and assess feasibility for services.

Responsible for overseeing the detailed treatment plans, observation notes, interim reports, and final staffing reports of the youth.

Develop, implement, and conduct, regular vocational related events such as Talent Tours, guest speakers, campus visits, and other vocational related activities.

Responsible for achieving performance outcomes for the YCA program.

Develop and/or over-see the development of individualized treatment plans for each student and develop behavior modification plans as needed.

Develop and submit quarterly reports and monthly reports as required.

Use best practices and evidence-based methods for treatment and support of students (Cognitive behavioral skills and models + strength based).

Maintain complete case records, employment records, outcome measures, and follow-up systems in accordance with CARF standards and state of MI regulations.

Monitor budgets for the YCA program.

Reinforce a strong, upbeat, and positive culture in the YS department.

Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Develop meaningful training plans for new staff to the YCA and enter payroll and other supervisory functions as needed.

Provide individual counseling and crisis intervention for youth as needed.

Conduct facility tours and intake sessions, process initial intake documents and discharge documents, and oversee case files and database for program participants – Daily/weekly

Other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position directly supervises two YCA staff and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:

Interviewing, hiring, and training employees

Planning assisting and directing work

Appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems

Develop a unified team that reflects Peckham’s culture and values

Provide mentorship and coaching

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A master’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, guidance & counseling, education, business administration, criminal justice, or public administration and 2 years of experience in a child caring agency required OR

A bachelor’s degree with a major in social work, sociology, guidance & counseling, education, business administration, criminal justice, or public administration and 4 years of post-bachelor’s degree experience working with youth in a vocational training program.

This position requires passing and maintaining security background checks.

Must have access to reliable transportation.

Must maintain an unrestricted Michigan driver’s license and possess a clear driving record (in accordance with company insurance policy) to drive the company vehicle.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

CPI or TCI certification.

CPR and First Aid certification (may be obtained after hire)
