LANSING, MI

Primarily an onsite role but willing to negotiate some remote work.

Role:

Assists in maintaining smooth operations of all company networks, systems, and applications.

Helps support a WAN/LAN infrastructure in a Financial Service environment.

Designs, recommends and implements WAN/ LAN solutions to support clients using best practices and in accordance with strict networking guidelines.

Provides technical support to users as needed, diagnoses and resolves basic connectivity problems.

Evaluates, recommends, and implements network hardware needs, and assists in the development of IT strategies and

policies.

Maintains professional business relations with all contacts.

Keeps management well informed of area activities.

Manages, monitors and coordinates the CISCO telephony system.

The Network Engineer will assist in the day to-day project coordination and management of the Converged Network Services (CNS) Network while providing analysis, troubleshooting, communication, and consulting to employees and vendor partners.

The Network Engineer will provide support to the Information Technology Manager on an on-going basis.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

- 45% Maintain and monitor network connectivity and performance. Daily operations of LAN/

WAN applications and systems. Manages Active Directory; adds, deletes, updates user information as assigned. Manage servicer disk space. Monitors network systems and provides detailed reports. Diagnoses and resolves basic system and connectivity problems. Provides effective system virus protection.

- 15% Assist in developing, testing, recommending and implementing new IT systems and processes. Test, evaluate, and implement software and hardware for reliability and functionality. Evaluates and recommends standards for hardware and software operations in systems as assigned. Locate and implement new products as needed.

- 15% IT disaster recovery plans and measures: Assess disaster situations, threats, and risks and identifies primary areas of vulnerability. Researches recovery methods and recommends appropriate solutions for data storage, backup and retrieval. Ensures appropriate mechanisms are in place to protect network connections and servers. Establishes backup power sources. Develop network recovery and relocation plans, as well as replacement options. Annual review all aspects

of the IT disaster recovery plan and provide suggestions for improvement and updates to the written disaster recovery plan, as necessary.

- 10% Manages multiple projects simultaneously while achieving the timelines and established goals of the assignment. Proactively manages project updates, keeping management up to date on project status and any potential issues. Ensure deadlines are met and tasks are accurately completed to ensure highest level of client relationships.

- 5% Inventory and monitoring of assets including end of service and end of life replacement plans.

- 5% Commitment to continue education through certifications, conferences and/or training. Training network staff to provide support to end users.

- 5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

1. Maintaining a positive professional attitude.

2. Software and hardware problems are reviewed and resolved promptly.

3. Audit, exam and Information Technology test results.

4. Network stability / outage repair and maintenance of computers and peripheral equipment.

5. Disaster planning and mitigation strategies are effective and well documented.

6. Effective project management, from inception through implementation. On time, on scope, on budget.

7. Following policies, processes and procedures.

8. Success of vendor partner upgrades/updates and working relationships.

9. Product/service/system "up-time".

10. Helpdesk ticket response time, management and organization.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

1. CCNA preferred, but not required.

2. Experience with enterprise network architecture/engineering preferred.

3. Cisco Certifications preferred but not required prior to hire. Required after hire.

4. Demonstrated experience displaying the ability to grow vendor relations, develop technical plans, and prepare audit and PEN test reports.

5. Must be able to work autonomously with minimal supervision, make decisions for the CNS organization on projects, self-start and take tasks from start to completion.

6. Prioritization of projects and deadlines required.

Education

(1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the

industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in

lieu of a degree).

Interpersonal Skills Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level.

Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills

1. Knowledge of computer operating systems, hardware, software and Active Directory Environments.

2. Knowledge of computer and telecommunications equipment. Cisco technical background preferred.

3. Takes initiative and works autonomously.

6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

7. Develop and present proposals.

8. Must be able to work and travel independently and use general office equipment
