This position will be responsible for managing two grants, the CyberCorps Scholarship for Service (SFS) and National Research Traineeship (NRT) DataSENSE, within the academic domains, ensuring seamless coordination and efficient execution of program activities. The Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing the successful implementation of the grants, fostering collaboration among faculty, students, researchers, and external partners. Review of applications will begin on August 5, 2024.The position of Program Coordinator will be soft-funded, with financial support from external grants. These grants come with predetermined end dates; however, the Program Investigators anticipate a continuous cycle of grant applications to ensure the sustained success and growth of the programs. This opportunity offers the Program Coordinator a chance to gain hands-on experience managing budgets, tracking expenditures, and ensuring fiscal responsibility in alignment with the requirements of external grants. CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service (SFS) is a national program designed to recruit and train the next generation of cybersecurity professionals for federal, state, local, and tribal governments. Michigan Tech is a proud participant of the SFS program through a multi-million dollar grant awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The program coordinator will provide administrative support to the project team in processing important paperwork, managing post-award project activities, interacting with project partners, and promoting SFS activities and events.NRT: National Research Traineeship (NRT) program is designed to support training diverse graduate students to become the next generation of interdisciplinary scientists and researchers in Data-Science-ENabled Sensing of the Environment for climate adaptation (DataSENSE). The project coordinator will provide support across several distinct tasks including tracking student progress, helping manage budgets and financial accounts, coordinating recruitment and admission processes, promoting and executing training events, and engaging with the project trainees/faculty. Note, the project coordinators of NRTs across the nation have established a network where you can communicate and gain professional development opportunities. Responsibilities

Oversee project management activities, such as analyzing expenditures, budget modifications, cost transfers, EPAFS, timesheets, and financial closeouts.

Organize and process student profiles, legal contracts, government paperwork, and other important project documents.

Serve as a liaison to sponsored programs and sponsored accounting offices, admission office, financial aid office, graduate school office principal investigator and other project partners.

Collect student feedback and monitor participation in student activities.

Track activities, accomplishments, and projects throughout the year. Document and gather information for the NSF reporting requirements.

Coordinate and assist in the execution of recruitment events and activities.

Coordinate application processes for students to enter the NRT and SFS programs.

Facilitate interactions with individual students and help answer commonly asked questions. Be approachable and foster an environment and build a community for students seeking guidance and support in the programs.

Promote a culture of equal opportunity and inclusion with the students.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience

Relevant administrative experience organizing and coordinating multiple tasks, budgets, projects, activities, etc.

Relevant experience showing ability to effectively work with a team of people with diverse backgrounds. Experience in program/project management Experience working with budgets, financial data, and accounting systems Experience showing ability to work with attention to detail and with accuracy. Experience using advanced features of word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, such as the MS Office and Adobe suites, and web-based productivity resources, such as Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.). Ability to use judgment when dealing with confidential information. Desirable Education and/or Experience Experience working in a higher education environment or other complex organization. Experience using BANNER, EPAF or similar tools used for university systems. Experience in marketing or communication for an organization or group. Experience working with college students.
